Below is The SLANT which has been created by our good friend Mac Folkes. Check it out by clicking on the link and follow The SLANT on Facebook, Twitter...you never know, you may learn something.
Lovingly crafted in New York City by long time fashion insider Mac Folkes, The SLANT is a limited edition artifact that disports itself with notions of what a printed periodical can be, offering thematic musings with a message that hold the ticklish equipoise between gravity and levity. Featuring the work of emerging and established artists Eric Johnson, Attila Richard Lukacs, Cleon Peterson, and Trent Parke, the premiere issue of The SLANT delivers material evidence to be coveted, claimed and critiqued. Truly something to have and to hold.
Folkes, known among fashion industry vets as a globally renowned model coach as well as a freelance art director, has designed packages and cards for top models at agencies. The earliest version of The SLANT was created as an 11 x 17 broadsheet that he designed in 2009 to help his friend Todd Barket publicize his then-new menswear store, Unionade, in San Francisco.
“We had this running joke that we wanted to make something that was ephemeral for these ethereal times. So what started off as a newsletter, we now like to call an artifact. We wanted to make people know this was something to have and to hold. Something really tactile that the reader had to engage in. The design is ever evolving, but will also be something people retain after reading.”- Mac Folkes, Creator of The SLANT
The SLANT debuts with, “An Issue of Shame,” and is numbered in a limited edition run of 2,500 and sells for $36 and is available at theslantcreative.com.
